Reduce Emissions. Demonstrate Real Progress.
Independent audits against ETA’s Carbon Reduction Standard. Build confidence in your greenhouse gas data, reduction actions and climate reporting.
What is ETA Carbon Reduction Certification?
The Ethical Trade Alliance Carbon Reduction Standard (Version 1.1, September 2026) establishes auditable requirements for identifying, measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It addresses emissions from an organisation’s own operations and, at applicable certification levels, transportation, logistics, products and other value-chain activities.
What does the standard require?
A publicly available carbon policy; assigned senior management responsibility; documented greenhouse gas inventories; traceable emission factors and records; measurable, time-bound reduction targets; appropriate legal compliance processes; internal verification; corrective action; and at least annual reporting of emissions performance and progress.
A practical, progressive certification pathway
ETA’s Appendix B defines progressive star levels so organisations can begin with operations-related emissions and expand their coverage to activity-related and product-related emissions, enhanced verification, public disclosure and science-based reduction targets. The appropriate level is assessed against the actual requirements of the current ETA standard.
How the audit works
Blue Wolf Certifications conducts the independent assessment of your emissions boundaries, inventories, evidence, reduction initiatives, internal checks and public reporting against ETA’s Carbon Reduction Standard. ETA is responsible for certification and issuing certificates. The audit provides independent assessment of conformance; it is not a guarantee of net-zero status or future emission reductions.
Who should consider certification?
Manufacturers, distributors, logistics providers, service businesses, public organisations and other organisations seeking a structured way to demonstrate emissions accountability and credible progress to customers, buyers and stakeholders.
